Hermeneutics. What? Exactly. This morning I am spending a couple of hours observing Acts 1:8 and trying to extract about 25 separate observations. Here is the verse:
“but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” (NASB)
It’s a process folks. Being able to see a verse from so many different angles is a skill to be acquired. So why the fancy word to define what “Biblical Dissection” means? Wow, just looked it up and here’s the def:
her·me·neu·tics, [hur-muh–noo-tiks, –nyoo–] – noun
|1.||the science of interpretation, esp. of the Scriptures.|
|2.||the branch of theology that deals with the principles of Biblical exegesis.|
The science of interpretation. So according to this, I’m a scientist. Neat.
